Are You Losing IELTS Points for This?

IELTS(アイエルツ:英語試験)

NEVER use shoulda, woulda, coulda in your IELTS Speaking test! These informal reduced forms will cost you valuable points.

As a Cambridge CELTA qualified teacher, I see students make this expensive mistake repeatedly. In your IELTS speaking assessment, you must use:
– Should have or should’ve (not shoulda)
– Would have or would’ve (not woulda)
– Could have or could’ve (not coulda)

Your IELTS examiner expects semi-formal register throughout the speaking test. These reduced forms signal informal speech patterns that lower your score. Standard contractions are OK.
