IELTS(アイエルツ:英語試験)

When “your mind draws a blank” the subject is completely forgotten

“It slipped my mind” suggests you knew something but forgot recently

“I don’t have a clue” is very casual and may imply you don’t care very much or you’re not interested

“I can’t think of that off the top of my head” suggests you knew something but you’ve recently forgotten

When “you’re trying to place it” you are trying to recall when or where you heard something

and when you say “I’m afraid I can help you with that specific detail” you are politely saying that you don’t know.
